Rising Russian star Daniil Medvedev continued his impressive early-season form as he defeated Jan-Lennard Struff to advance to the quarter-finals of the Open 13 Marseille.
The 21-year-old edged Struff 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3) in one hour and 43 minutes, saving a break point in the ninth game of the decider before going on to clinch the tie-break.
It's the third time this season that the newcomer has qualified for an ATP World Tour quarter-final.

"It was a very tough match," said Medvedev. "My opponent played really good tennis and served amazing. I'm proud that I took the only break chance that I had to win the set and that I could get through a few tough moments on my serve. In the tie-break, I was just more consistent than him. It was another tough win for me and I'm really happy to be in the quarter-finals."
Elsewhere, qualifier Norbert Gombos continued him impressive run by defeating Nicolas Mahut 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5) in another hard-fought match.
Gombos moves on to face Nick Kyrgios for a place in the semi-finals.
