Wozniacki ousts Radwanska in Doha

Caroline Wozniacki secured an encouraging straight sets victory over fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska at the Qatar Total Open on Thursday.

The Dane struggled for consistency in 2016, although she did show improvement towards the latter half of the campaign following a series of injuries earlier in the year.

The 26-year-old is definitely back on the up, and confirmed that with a very solid 7-5, 6-3 victory over Radwanska, a top 10 player.

Wozniacki claimed four breaks to Radwanska’s one to wrap up victory in one hour and 40 minutes.

"We always have great matches – the last two times we've played I've lost to her," said Wozniacki afterwards.

With the tournament still playing catch up following rain delays earlier in the week, Wozniacki's quarter-final match with Lauren Davis also got under way, although play ended for the evening shortly after the Dane held serve for a 1-0 lead in the first set.

Others to advance on Thursday afternoon included Dominika Cibulkova, who defeated Sam Stosur 7-5, 6-4.

Stosur had very little time to recover from her victory over Barbora Strycova before heading out again to face Cibulkova, and could not lift herself for a second straight win.
