The 2008 French Open champion called it quits after several years of struggling with injuries meant that she failed to recapture the highs of her early career.
“I’ve decided to retire from professional tennis, This has been a difficult decision but there has been so much to celebrate,” said the 29-year-old Serb.
Ivanovic’s news saw social media lightup with tributes to the fans favourite, with figures from the tennis world and fellow pros lining up to send goodwill messages.
