Kvitova ‘fortunate to be alive’ after knife attack

Two-time grand slam winner Petra Kvitova says she is lucky to be alive after surviving a knife attack by an intruder at her home in Czech Republic.

Reports revealed that Kvitova has an injured left-hand from the attack, which is believed to have been a burglary.

“It was a random crime, nobody was going to attack or rob her as Petra Kvitova,” said her publicist Karel Tejkal.

Kvitova took to Twitter to explain the incident and thank those who offered their support:

The incident occurred during the day on Tuesday at her home in Prostejov.

Just hours earlier, Kvitova announced her withdrawal from the Hopman Cup due to an ongoing foot injury.
