Victoria Azarenka was looking in ominous form before she announced she was taking time off to have a baby, and she is planning to return to tennis as soon as possible.
The two-time Grand Slam champion made a sterling start to the 2016 season, winning the first title of the season in Brisbane before going on to become the first woman in over a decade to claim the 'Sunshine Double' with victories in Indian Wells and Miami.
But her season was interrupted midway through the year when she announced she was pregnant with her first child.
Azarenka has not yet given birth, but is already looking ahead to next year.
While she hasn't put a date on her comeback, there's no doubt that she does intend to make a comeback.
"I don't put any time frame on myself," Azarenka said in an interview with Tennis Channel. "I would love to make it as soon as possible, but give myself a reasonable time to fully recover and be ready. I'm not going to rush anything, and it's hard to tell before the birth actually happens.
"So, we'll see, but I'm confident that I'll be able to play tennis again pretty soon."
