Andy Murray strolled into the Erste Bank Open final on Saturday after his opponent in the last four, David Ferrer, pulled out with a leg injury.
Murray will face Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for the title.
The Scot will take over at the top of the world rankings for the first time in his career if he wins on Sunday and at next week's Paris Masters – provided Djokovic doesn't make the Paris final himself.
Tsonga advanced to the final after battling back from a set down to defeat big-serving Ivo Karlovic 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (8-6).
True to form, Karlovic offered precious few opportunities on his booming serve, but Tsonga was able to win the points that mattered in the two tie-breaks to advance to the final.
