Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova appear to have spent their Saturdays hard at work as they look to make comebacks in the new year.
Both players have been forced to endure lengthy spells on the sidelines, albeit for very different reasons – Federer has been out since Wimbledon with a troublesome knee injury, while Sharapova is currently serving a ban for a doping offence.
Sharapova recently heard that she will be allowed to return much sooner than expected, however, and is now set to be back in April.
She’s clearly staying busy during her time off, if the tweet she sent out on Saturday is any indication:

Meanwhile, Federer is expected to return even sooner, at the Hopman Cup in early January, and he’s also currently hard at work:

The next 12 months will be a crucial time for both players, one that will determine just how much longer they each have left in the game. Clearly, they’re giving it all they’ve got in order to return to the top.
