Rain interrupts Radwanska at Eastbourne

Persistent rain brought an early end to the action at the AEGON International Eastbourne on Thursday, interrupting top seed Agnieszka Radwanska's quarter-final match.

Radwanska was leading 6-4 2-0 in her last-eight tie with Dominika Cibulkova when play was called off for the first time.

The duo returned and played to 6-4, 3-2 before the rain returned and play was suspended.

The only player who was able to book her spot in the quarter-finals was Monica Puig, who defeated Kristina Mladenovic 7-6, (8-6) 4-6, 6-3.

The Puerto Rican will face the winner of Radwanska v Cibulkova.

Two second-round matches were completed earlier on the day.

Karolina Pliskova of Czech Republic was a 6-2, 6-4 winner over Japan's Misaki Doi, while Russia's Ekaterina Makarova bested Germany's Andrea Petkovic 6-3, 4-6, 6-0.

Pliskova's quarter-final match with Elena Vesnina got under way as well, but was interrupted with Pliskova having raced into a 4-0 lead.
