Two-time Wimbledon semi-finalist Victoria Azarenka has withdrawn from the event with a knee injury, organisers confirmed on Thursday.
On the official Wimbledon twitter account, the news was confirmed with a tweet saying – "Victoria Azarenka has withdrawn from #Wimbledon due to a knee injury. Get well soon, @vika7".

Belarusian former world number one Azarenka was seeded sixth for Wimbledon but has not played since last month after retiring injured from her first round match at Roland Garros.
In 2011 at Wimbledon, Azarenka lost in the semi-final to Petra Kvitova and in 2012 she lost to Serena Williams at the same stage.
She will be a huge loss as when playing well Azarenka is capable of beating anyone. The two-time Australian Open champion has been struggling with foot-related injuries for some time over the past two years.
Azarenka's departure means that Venus Williams moves up to be amongst the top eight seeds.
