Stephens cruises in Cincinnati

American tennis player Sloane Stephens hammered 10th-seed Suarez Navarro in the Cincinnati Open on Tuesday.

Stephens won 6-1, 6-2 and was never troubled by the Spaniard. The American moved into a 3-0 lead in the opening set before winning it 6-1 and kept up the pressure on to win easily in just over an hour.

In other matches, France's Kristina Mladenovic reached the next round with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Slovak wild card Daniela Hantuchova.

Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova won in three sets against Roberta Vinci of Italy 6-3, 0-6, 6-2.

Italian Flavia Pennetta overcame Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova 7-5, 6-2 and Russia's Daria Gavrilova beat 16th seed Sara Errani in three sets, winning 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.
