Berdych edges Jaziri

Tomas Berdych is through to the third round at Roland Garros following his win over Malek Jaziri on Thursday.

The seventh seed needed four sets to defeat the Tunisian 6-1, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 on Suzanne Lenglen Court in Paris.

The opening set was one-way traffic, with Berdych needing just two breaks and 27 minutes to take the lead.

After fighting off a couple break points in the third game, Jaziri struck back with a couple breaks of his own to level matters.

In the third set, Berdych raced to a 4-1 lead and never looked back. The fourth set saw Berdych keep the points short by coming to the net, a strategy that worked as he sealed up the match.

The victory books Berdych a date with Pablo Cuevas in the third round. Earlier in the day, 25th seed Cuevas defeated Quentin Halys 7-6(4), 6-3, 7-6(6).
