Novak Djokovic advanced to the second round of Roland Garros following his win over Yen-Hsu Lu on Tuesday.
The Serb needed just 90 minutes on the red clay to defeat Lu in straight sets 6-4, 6-1, 6-1 and move to the second round.
It appeared as if Djokovic would have to fight for the victory after the Taiwan native broke back in fine style in the opening set to make it 4-4. But Djokovic won the final two games to clinch the set.
That bit of fight seemed to be all that Lu had in him, as the top seed turned on the class, blitzed the final two sets in a shade over 50 minutes, breaking Lu five times in total.
On reflection, Djokovic would be happy with his 34 winners but slightly concerned with his 22 unforced errors.
The win books him a date with Belgian qualifier Steve Darcis in the second round, who he has beaten twice before without dropping a set.
In other results, seventh seed Tomas Berdych eased past Vasek Pospisil 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 and 15th seed John Isner dropped a set against John Millman but won 6-7(4), 7-6(12), 7-6(7), 7-5 in the end.
