World number eight Tomas Berdych has confirmed that he has split with coach Daniel Vallverdu due to poor recent results.
The 2016 tennis season has not been a particularly good one for Berdych as he has failed to reach the final of the ten events he has played.
Recently he lost in the second round of the Monaco Masters to Bosnian world number 71 Damir Dzumhur and in the third round of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome last week he was beaten 6-0, 6-0 by Belgian 12th seed David Goffin.
Berdych and Vallverdu, who is a former coach of Andy Murray, started working together in December 2014.
The 30-year-old Berdych confirmed on Facebook that he needed a change but was still to decide on a replacement.
“My results lately have not been what I expected. As I am not a tennis player at the beginning of his career I have to act quickly when I feel that I need a change.” Berdych said.
Berdych is in Paris preparing for the French Open which gets underway next week at Roland Garros.
