Eugenie Bouchard advanced to the second round of the BNP Paribas Open following a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 come-from-behind win against Risa Ozaki on Thursday.
Bouchard, who lost in the final of the Malaysia Open last week, looked set for an early exit at Indian Wells after losing the first set. However, she bounced back to claim the second set, a set which included six consecutive breaks of serve.
The Canadian then dominated Ozaki in the third set, breaking her twice, to progress to the second round, where she will face Sloane Stephens, who was given a bye in the first round.
Shuai Zhang, Christina McHale, Camila Giorgi, and Madison Brengle were among those who also booked their spots in the second round.
