Switzerland have confirmed that the Messe Luzern will host the Fed Cup semi-final between Switzerland and the Czech Republic later this year.
"Messe Luzern, Lucerne will host the Fed Cup semifinal between Switzerland and Czech Republic on 16-17 April," read a statement released by Swiss Tennis via its twitter feed this week.
Switzerland advanced to the semi-final of the Fed Cup, following an emphatic performance against number three seed Germany earlier this month. Switzerland have not won a semi-final at the Davis Cup since 1998.
Home ground advantage and the return of Martina Hingis (who was a part of that 1998 team) have enhanced the team's prospects of achieving this feat again.
Hingis remains a critical cog in Swiss tennis, having partnered up with rising star Belinda Bencic in the doubles rubber of the previous round, where they beat Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Andrea Petkovic, to secure the tie.
The upcoming tie will be the seventh clash between Switzerland and the Czech Republic in Fed Cup – but their first since 2000 and their first on Swiss soil. The nine-time champion Czechs lead their head-to-head 5-1, with Switzerland's only win coming in the first round during their run to the final in 1998.
