World number three Simona Halep has postponed a nose operation in order to play this weekend for Romania in the Fed Cup against the Czech Republic.
Last month, Halep said that she would not be playing in the Fed Cup or WTA events in Dubai and Doha as she had to undergo nose surgery but now she has confirmed that those plans have changed.
“I have had some health problems for some time (nose, ears and stomach) and the doctors advised me to have surgery. But it’s not urgent so I decided to postpone the operation and play in the Fed Cup tie,” Halep said.
The clash takes place on Saturday and Sunday against the reigning champions the Czech Republic in Cluj in the north-east of Romania.
“I don’t know when I will have the operation. It is necessary and will help me a lot but at the moment, I feel fine. The prognosis is good,” she adde
