Keys downs Ivanovic in dramatic fashion

Madison Keys overcame a drama-filled third round clash to beat Ana Ivanovic 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 at the Australian Open.

The players spent 50 minutes off the court when Nigel Sears, Ivanovic's coach and Andy Murray's father-in-law, collapsed on his way out of the player's box and had to receive medical attention before being stretchered out of Rod Laver Arena.

Ivanovic was leading 6-4, 1-0 when play was halted, and while she broke Key after play resumed, it was the American who rallied to take the set and force a decider.

In the third set, again it was the 20th-seeded Serb who grabbed the early initiative and went 3-1 up before Keys reeled off five games in succession to go 5-3 up.

Ivanovic held serve to make the 15th seed serve out the match, and she did so, capitalising on her third match point to book her spot in the last 16.

Keys will take on the winner of the match between Varvaro Lepchenko and Shuai Zhang for a place in the quarter-finals.
