Ivanovic’s coach collapses courtside

Play has been suspended indefinitely on Rod Laver Arena after the coach of Ana Ivanovic collapsed and was stretchered away.

Nigel Sears, who is Andy Murray’s father-in-law, is believed to have stumbled and fell when taking his seat, but been no official confirmation of his condition.

Initial rumours suggested Sears might have suffered a heart attack, while other reports claimed he merely slipped and fell awkwardly.

Medical staff arrived on the scene shortly after and treated Sears for approximately 10 minutes before he was stretchered away.

Sears was reportedly conscious and breathing at the time.

Ivanovic was leading 6-4, 1-0 when play was halted.

Approximately 20 minutes later play was resumed, after it was confirmed that Sears was breathing, conscious and talking coherently.
