Fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska beat Puerto Rico’s Monica Puig 6-4, 6-0 to advance to the fourth round of the Australian Open.
The Polish player has been in fine form in recent times, winning the WTA Tour Championship at the end of 2015 and the Shenzhen Open in the lead-up to the Australian Open, and continued in the same fashion on Friday.
Somewhat surprisingly, she was the first to drop serve, with Puig going a break up at 3-4. However, that was as good as it got for the world number 52, who was unable to win another game in the match.
Radwanska broke back immediately and secured the first set with another break of serve immediately after.
The 28-minute second set proved to be something of a procession, with the world number four hitting winner after winner to book her place in the last 16.
She faces unheralded German Anna-Lena Friedsam for a place in the quarter-final.
