Canadian Eugenie Bouchard will face Alize Cornet of France in the final of the Hobart International on Saturday.
The unseeded Bouchard caused an upset by defeating Slovakian third seed Dominika Cibulkova 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 in a match lasting just over two hours.
Bouchard looked in good form when winning the first set 6-1 but lost the second set, despite being up a break four times.
The match went to a third set with Cibulkova being broken in the seventh game for Bouchard to eventually win through to her first WTA Tour final since 2014.
In the other semi-final, seventh seed Cornet hammered Sweden’s Johanna Larsson 6-1, 6-1 in a match that lasted 55 minutes.
