It's been a tumultuous year for controversial young gun Nick Kyrgios, but he is ready to put it all behind him and look ahead to the new year.
The 20-year-old started the year off with a bang by reaching the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, but as the season wore on he started drawing more headlines for his on-court outbursts and controversies than for the quality of his tennis.
Kyrgios wants to re-focus on his game in the new year, however, and is targeting a busy start to his 2016 campaign, which includes the Hopman Cup, Fast4 in Sydney and a tournament in Kooyong – all taking place before the start of the Australian Open on January 18.
“I will keep focusing on improving as an athlete and a tennis player, working hard to get fitter, stronger, faster whilst aiming to get the best out of my tennis and making gains where possible," Kyrgios wrote on his official blog.
“2016 will be another big year for me, I am working so hard to hit the ground running.”
