World number seven David Ferrer is looking forward to making his season debut at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, which starts on December 31.
The Spaniard's last outing in Abu Dhabi saw him finish runner-up, and he is hoping he can go one better this time around.
“I’m really looking forward to getting to Abu Dhabi and checking out some of the sights before the tournament,” he said.
“I have been out a number of times before so know what to expect and it’s all positive. The reception from the crowds is always fantastic, the playing conditions are incredible and the overall atmosphere is one of celebration so it’s going to be a lot of fun.
“The great thing about Abu Dhabi are the sports fans who always make me feel very welcome.
“I hope there will be a lot of Spanish flags to support me!”
Joining Ferrer in Abu Dhabi is an all-star cast that includes Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Milos Raonic and Kevin Anderson.
