Broady and Ostapenko involved in fiery exchange

British tennis player Naomi Broady was involved in a heated argument with opponent Jelena Ostapenko at the the Auckland Classic on Wednesday.

An incensed Broady called for Ostapenko to be disqualified after claiming that the Latvian intentionally threw her racket at a ballboy.

Ostapenko said her racquet slipped, and the umpire seemed to agree, opting for a code violation rather than a disqualification.

That left Broady none too happy:

Broady went on to fight back from 1-5 down in the third set to win the match 4-6, 7-6, 7-5 and took to Twitter to defend herself afterwards:

 

 

 

 

 

Fellow WTA player Kristina Mladenovic replied to Broady, and accused Ostapenko of behaving in a similar fashion on a prior occasion:
