Aussies, NZ start strong in Vancouver Sevens

Australia’s John Porch scored a hat-trick as the Aussie’s ran out 31-21 winners in their final Pool A game against the United States at the Vancouver Sevens on Saturday.

The win saw Australia finish top of their pool, meaning they will face a quarter-final match against series leaders South Africa after the Blitzboks lost out to New Zealand in Pool D.

The Aussies ended the day with two wins and a draw after a 19-19 draw with Canada and a 50-17 beating of Uruguay.

The All Blacks Sevens got the better of South Africa in Pool D, recording a 33-14 win thanks to a devastating opening blitz of three tries in the opening seven minutes from Scott Curry, Dylan Collier and Ngarohi McGarvey-Black that left the score at 21-0.

South Africa struck back through Dylan Sage and Kyle Brown, but it wasn’t enough.

England topped Pool B with a 21-7 win over Argentina in their final match, Argentina finishing second over Samoa on points scored.

The English will play Kenya in their quarterfinal after Fiji edged the Kenyans 24-21 in the Pool C decider.
