Malaysia’s Ooi Tze Liang was unable to qualify for the men’s 10m platform diving semi-finals at the Olympics on Friday.
With only the top 18 divers qualifying and two going through as reserves, Ooi finished 22nd and was knocked out of the competition.
Ooi started strong with scores of 68.80, 76.80 and 64.50, but it began to go downhill from there as his next two dives only earned scores of 46.20 and 54.40, which dented his chances of getting past the preliminary stage.
Despite finishing with a 68.80 on his last dive, Ooi total score of 379.50 was not enough to get him through to the semi-finals.
Great Britain’s Tom Daley topped the list for the preliminary stage with a total score of 571.85, while the Chinese duo of Qiu Bo and Chen Aisen were second and third with scores of 564.75 and 545.35 respectively.
