Singapore’s women’s table tennis team are through to the semi-finals at the Rio Games after a superb win over South Korea.
The trio of Feng Tianwei, Yu Mengyu and Zhou Yihan were 1-2 down in the quarter-final match against their South Korean counterparts and staring defeat in the face.
But they were able to turn the match around from there, winning the last two games to complete a 3-2 victory and set up a semi-final encounter with defending Olympic champions China.
Gold medal favourites China sailed into the semi-finals with a 3-0 victory over North Korea.
Hong Kong were unable to match the feat achieved by their Southeast Asian counterparts, with Doo Hoi Kem and Ho Ching Lee going down 301 to Germany.
Germany will face Japan in the last four after the Japanese team secured a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Austria.
The semi-finals get underway on Monday.
