Single sculls rowing competition wraps up in Rio

Indonesia’s Memo Memo placed fourth in Final C of the men’s single sculls rowing competition in Rio on Saturday.

The 21-year-old’s time of 6:59.44 was only a second slower than third-placed Brian Rosso of Argentina.

The race was won by India’s Dattu Baban Bhokanal in a time of 6:54.96.

In Final A, the gold medal was won by Mahe Drysdale of New Zealand, who completed the distance in just 6:41.34, with Croatia’s Damir Martin taking silver and Czech Ondrej Synek bronze.

Singapore’s Aisyah Saiyidah was also in action in Final D of the women’s single sculls, placing fifth with a time of 7:55.73.

The race was won by Gabriela Mosqueira Benitez of Paraguay in a time of 7:44.62.

The gold medal in Final A was won by Australian Kim Brennan in a time of 7:21.54, followed by American Gevvie Stone in second and China’s Duan Jingli third.
