Hong Kong swimmer Camille Cheng and Malaysia’s Welson Sim were both eliminated in their respective swimming heats in Rio on Friday.
Taking part in the women’s 50m freestyle, Cheng finished sixth in heat 7 with a time of 25.92. That saw her finish in 44th place overall, with only the top 16 advancing.
Denamrk’s Pernille Blume qualified in first place with a time of 24.23.
In the men’s 1500m freestyle, Sim placed fourth in heat 1 with a time of 15:32.63 – only good enough for 39th place overall.
The top eight advanced, with Italy’s Gregorio Paltrinieri setting the quickest time, a 14:44.51.
Hong Kong were also in action at the women’s 4x100m medley relay, qualifying in 14th place overall with a time of 4:03.85.
The top eight advanced to the final, and the United States set the fastest combined time, a 3:54.67.
