Rossi eager to get ‘back on track’ at Assen

Movistar Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi plans on putting his disappointing Catalunya showing behind him and focus on this weekend’s MotoGP World Championship race at Assen.

The 38-year-old Rossi, who finished in a disappointing eighth position the last time out at Catalunya, is sitting in fifth place on the MotoGP rider standings, 28 points behind teammate and championship leader Maverick Vinales after seven rounds of racing.

With the MotoGP Championship heading to the legendary Dutch circuit known by fans as "The Cathedral of Speed", Rossi will be feeling quietly confident having won seven times previously (2002, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2013 and 2015) at the TT Circuit Assen.

In an interview, Rossi said he was happy to be going to Assen again as he liked the circuit.

"I'm happy to go to Assen, especially after the two days of testing we did in Barcelona following such a bad race," said Rossi. "During the test, e have tried some interesting solutions and now I want to try them at another track to see if we're going in the right direction.

"The Netherlands is always a great weekend, because the Assen circuit is very nice. I hope to be competitive in Assen because I would like to make it a good race."
