Pedrosa missed the last two races after undergoing surgery to correct an arm pump injury, and while their were hopes that he would have recovered sufficiently to take his place on the grid this week, it has been decided that the Spaniard will not return just yet.
“The team were hoping to be boosted by the return of Dani Pedrosa, who underwent surgery after the Qatar GP and missed Austin and Argentina GPs,” Repsol Honda said in a statement.
“After three weeks of recovery Dani is feeling an improvement but together with doctors has decided to rest until Le Mans on 17th May to give his arm more time to heal.
“Hiroshi Aoyama will replace Dani for the third race in a row.”
Pedrosa conceded that he was disappointed to miss out, but that it was neccessary to do so.
"It has been a very difficult decision to make, but I think the best is to wait a while longer, go ahead with the rehabilitation and be back in Le Mans," he said.
