Van der Mark enjoyed his maiden visit to the World Superbike podium last time out in Assen, finishing third in both races in what was his home round.
However, even though Imola is one of van der Mark's favourite circuits, the 22-year-old admitted that he will find it a lot tougher to race on the CBR1000RR than the CBR600RR he used when he finished second at the same circuit while competing in the Supersport World Championship last year.
"I’m really looking forward to getting back into action at Imola," van der Mark said on his official website. "I really like the circuit but I know it will be very different on a Superbike than it was on my CBR600RR from last year.
"I hope we can make the Fireblade work as well here as Jonathan Rea made it work last season, but we have quite different settings, so it won’t be easy.
"But we definitely found something really positive at Assen, working together as a team and analyzing the data, so we’ll be looking for more this weekend in Italy."
However, it has not been all business for van der Mark as he revealed that he arrived in Italy a few days earlier in order to relax and visit San Marino as well.
"I actually got to Italy a few days early so I’ve been relaxing and driving around and enjoyed a visit to San Marino," he said.
