Hamilton supportive of New York GP race

Lewis Hamilton has said a New York grand prix would be "incredible" and well worthy of being the second US host on the F1 calendar.

New owners Liberty Media are eager to make changes to schedule to help generate more interest in Formula 1 and a second race in America is said to be very high on the agenda.

New York is one of the leading venues for a second race and Hamilton would welcome it to the calendar with open arms.

"That would be very cool!" Hamilton said. "New York is a grand prix I think we should definitely have. I think two grands prix in the States is something we should put in the calendar.

"I think it would be incredible, such a great city with such a great backdrop from New Jersey. Being at night, even during the day is fine, it's not too extreme conditions.

"Perhaps a twilight kind of race, the sunset is pretty crazy over the city, so a bit like Bahrain where you go from the sun setting to the evening would be perfect.”
