Horner: ‘Niggling issues’ hindering Red Bull

Red Bull boss Christian Horner has reflected on a frustrating but "encouraging" start to pre-season testing in Barcelona.

Daniel Ricciardo was restricted to just four laps on Monday morning and his stoppage down at Turn Four brought the red flags out within the first hour of the session.

However, Horner was pleased to report that it was only a minor setback and has taken a lot of positivity from the decent stints by Renault who are working with the same power unit.

"We've had a couple of niggling little issues," Horner told Sky Sports.

"We had a battery issue and a sensor issue on the engine side but the guys are working hard to rectify that.

"They are not major issues, which is encouraging, and it is good to see the yellow cars doing a lot of mileage out there with the same power unit.

"Hopefully later this afternoon we'll able to rack a few more miles up."

Horner was also not giving much away when quizzed about the hole on the nose of the RB13 that has sparked plenty of discussion.

"Well it's primary purpose is for cooling," he added.

"But there's lots of different interpretations out there so it's interesting to see how the other teams have interpreted the new rules."
