Ducati MotoGP rider Andrea Iannone has been ruled out of this weekend's San Marino Grand Prix due to injury.
The Italian rider, who won in Austria just under a month ago, crashed at the Turn 13 right-hander just 10 minutes into Friday morning's first practice session at Misano.
Following treatment and initial x-rays at the trackside clinic, he was then taken to Cesena hospital for further checks on his back. Scans then revealed that Iannone is understood to have sustained a micro-fracture to his T3 vertebra.
Ducati will turn to test rider Michele Pirro, who was already running as a wild card for the weekend, alongside Andrea Dovizioso.
Iannone is also considered to be a major doubt for Aragon later this month.
