Ducati rider Andrea Iannone set the fastest time during the third practice session for this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix in a session which was headlined by a heavy crash by Marc Marquez, the Championship leader.
Iannone, who is riding with a rib injury, continued Ducati's strong run at the Red Bull Ring outside Spielberg, and finished just ahead of team-mate Andrea Dovizioso with a time of 1m23.327.
Iannone was the class of the field during FP3 and although his best time was 0.290s clear of Dovizioso's best, he had two other times behind his name that would have been enough to hand him P1.
Despite Ducati's dominance so far this weekend, the attention was on the Honda garage for the majority of the session, after Marquez – who had taken eighth tenths off his FP2 best already on Saturday, crashed heavily on Turn 3, 10 minutes into the session.
The Championship leader appeared to lose his balance after being somewhat taken by surprise by team-mate Dani Pedrosa, who ran slow and wide into the corner. Marquez then nearly clipped the rear of the sister Honda and was flung from his machine as he took evasive action.
He was thrown onto the asphalt run-off area and after getting up moments later, he held his collarbone and arm, although Honda later confirmed that he had 'only' suffered a dislocated shoulder.
Marquez's early pace-setting time was still enough to hand him ninth place and a spot in Q2, with Pedrosa also just making it through in P10
Suzuki's Maverick Vinales was Ducati's closest challenger in FP3, although his best of 1m23.755s was 0.428s slower than Iannone's P1 time.
Jorge Lorenzo, meanwhile, enjoyed his best session of the weekend and finished in fourth, just ahead of Scott Redding of Pramac Ducati and Yamaha team-mate Valentino Rossi.
Aleix Espargaro moved into P7 with a late fast lap after being cleared to continue racing despite suffering a hand injury on Friday.
Hector Barbera finished in eighth, while Cal Crutchlow crashed out at Turn 4 late on and missed out on a spot in Q2.
