Ducati Team rider Andrea Dovizioso is hoping that the changes made to his bike during 2016, plus the new Michelin tyres will make them competitive at this weekend's MotoGP German Grand Prix at Sachsenring.
The Ducati team will be hoping to create their own history this weekend by claiming their 100th premier class podium.
Dovizioso's best result at Sachsenring, while riding for Ducati, is a seventh place. The Italian is currently in 11th place in the rider standings with 43 points after eight rounds of racing.
In an interview with the official MotoGP site, the 30-year-old said despite the circuit not being ideal for their Desmosedici GP bike he could not really comment until after the first practice session.
“I think the layout of the Sachsenring track is not ideal for the characteristics of our Desmosedici GP bike," said Dovizioso.
"It has a lot of long left-hander corners where you have to keep the throttle partially open and our bike is not yet perfect in these conditions.
"In any case, you never know until first practice because it might be better with the different tyre this year. It could be like Assen in the dry, where we were very competitive.”
