Sam Bird believes that fans of Formula E are in for a gripping finale to the season this weekend in London's very own street race.
English-born Bird, who is 29-years-of-age, is hoping for a triumphant end to his season with a home win in the ePrix in Battersea Park on Saturday and Sunday.
Should he be able to achieve that feat, he will finish the season in third in the Driver Standings and will also ensure that DS Virgin Racing Formula E Team finish in the same position in the Team Standings.
"People should come down to see a fun and exciting spectacle and a race that’s completely green and perfect for the environment," Bird said.
"There’s more overtaking and racing in one Formula E than in a whole season of Formula One.
"We are the only electric series and we are taken very seriously."
This is the second time the race has been staged at the Battersea Park City Circuit, which Bird said was "quick" and "challenging" in some areas.
At the top of the Driver Standings, there is only one point that separates Lucas Di Grassi in first from Sébastien Buemi in second. Furthermore, the Team standings are almost just as close- Renault e.Dams lead ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport by just 11 points.
With all that in mind, it is hard to see how Bird will be proved wrong. This weekend promises to be a brilliant advertisement for the sport.
