Rossi aims for more Assen success

Movistar Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi heads to this weekend's MotoGP Championship event at Motul TT Assen feeling confident after winning the last outing at Barcelona.

In the last race on June 5 at the Catalunya MotoGP, the Italian won ahead of Honda's Marc Marquez while Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo crashed out.

In the MotoGP standings, Rossi is in third place with 103 points after seven races and is 12 points behind team-mate Lorenzo. At the top of the standings is Marquez with 125 points.

Rossi is very at home in Assen having a total of nine wins at the oldest MotoGP circuit.

In an interview with the MotoGP official site, Rossi said he was well-rested and was keen on returning to Assen as it was a place he loved racing at.

“I used this short break to rest a bit and now I'm ready for the next race," said Rossi.

“I love Assen, it is one of my favourite tracks, but that doesn’t mean anything because every race this year is very open and very uncertain.

"We just have to stay focused, try to work in the best way possible and see what happens. In Barcelona we had a good race and also the test went well.

"I really want to get back on track and prepare for the upcoming race with my team," he added.
