Bird grabs pole in Paris

DS Virgin Racing’s Sam Bird will start on pole position for the for the inaugural Paris ePrix on Saturday.

The Englishman claimed his third pole of the season, edging championship leader Lucas di Grassi by 0.3 seconds around the streets of Paris.

The Brazilian could only manage a 1:01.9 around the street circuit in his ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport.

Meanwhile, Bird was simply flawless in sector one, nearly two seconds faster than anyone else on the track.

Further down the grid, Birds teammate Jean-Eric Vergne would claim third spot on the grid, 0.4 seconds off the pace.

Defending driver’s champion Nelson Piquet Junior continued his poor form and will start from 12th.
