Honda Ten Kate rider Michael van der Mark is looking to mirror the success he had in Assen last season when he returns to the TT Circuit this weekend.
In 2015, Van der Mark finished third in both races and he is aiming to have another strong performance in his home town as he has already secured three podium finishes in six races this season.
After a superb showing at the first two events of the season in Australia and Thailand, Van der Mark struggled in Aragon earlier this month as he was forced to retire in Race 1 before finishing seventh in Race 2.
Despite the disappointment in Aragon, Van der Mark is confident that he will get his season back on track in Assen.
“I’m looking forward to race again at Assen and to receive a great welcome by the Dutch fans, who are always very supportive towards me and the team,” he said on his official website. “Assen is undoubtedly a very special place and it’s such a great track to be racing on.
“Last year we did very well and that resulted in a double podium, so this year I’m eager to do my very best once again; I’m sure we have everything we need to be back at the sharp end and to put the last round behind us.”
Van der Mark currently sits in fourth place on the World Superbike standings and trails Tom Sykes, who is in third, by 28 points.
