Rea clinches French double

Jonathan Rea secured race win number 14 of this season as the top four in the Championship dominated proceedings in Race 2 at Magny-Cours.

It was slick tyres all around on a dry Magny-Cours circuit as the final European race of the 2015 WSBK season got underway with pole-sitter Leon Haslam taking the early lead.

As fans have come to expect this season, it was the battle of the Brits at the front between Haslam, Rea, Chaz Davies and Tom Sykes.

Rea continued his bullish form from earlier as he forced Haslam wide with the Aprilia rider having to sit up, which cost him ground. Laps later it was Sykes who got the nudge from his team-mate as the new World Champion refused to give an inch.

But while Rea was the one forcing the moves, it was Davies who dived up into the lead, a position he held until the midway point of the race when Rea took over at the front.

With five to go the Kawasaki World Champ was able to put some distance between himself and Davies as he extended his advantage to over a second for the first time.

Breaking the Aruba.it rider's challenge, Rea romped to his 14th win of this season and his second on the day by 2.8s. Sykes finished in third place in a race where once again he was not able to maintain the pace in the second half.

Michael van der Mark was the best of the non-British riders as he brought his Pata Honda home in fourth place ahead of Haslam and Sylvain Guintoli.

Niccolo Canepa and Jordi Torres completed the top eight.
