Dovizioso quietly confident for 2016

MotoGP Ducati Team rider Andrea Dovizioso feels that they have made huge inroads with the Desmosedici GP16 over the pre-season testing and is very confident for the 2016 season.

In recent tests at Qatar, Dovizioso finished eighth overall, only using the softer compound tyres on the last day, two places behind team-mate Andrea Iannone, who were all chasing Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo at the top of the pile.

In a chat with MotoGP Update, the Italian was very satisfied with the pre-season testing.

“I am very pleased because we have made excellent progress in these nine days of pre-season testing,” said Dovizioso.

“(On the final test day) we also decided to test a softer front tyre, and this created a few set-up problems, but, in the end, we managed to work well and improve my feeling with the bike in the final run.

“Overall these three days of testing in Qatar have been very productive and we have made big steps forward that make me feel very confident for the race weekend.”

The MotoGP season kicks off with the Qatar GP at the Losail International Circuit on March 20.
