Kimi: Surprisingly little visibility difference

Although Kimi Raikkonen concedes the driver's vision is a bit limited by the halo design, he says it is "surprisingly" less than he expected.

The Ferrari driver debuted the device at the Circuit de Catalunya on Thursday as he ventured out for his installation lap with the halo attached to the SF16-H.

Raikkonen only covered the one lap before the device was removed and Ferrari focused on their pre-season programme.

Giving his assessment in the wake of Thursday's running, the Finn revealed that it had not impacted visibility as much as expected.

"Obviously it's slightly different view," he said.

"We are a bit limited in the front but I don't think it is the final version so surprisingly little difference.

"It was a little bit limited on the front, but I am not sure if it is the final version so it could change."

The halo, though, wasn't Raikkonen's only highlight of the day.

The Finn also made headlines as he posted the fastest lap time seen in this year's pre-season testing, a 1:22.785 on the ultra-soft tyres.

But while it was a quick time, Raikkonen reckons he could have gone even quicker.

"It was pretty okay," he said of his day.

"In many ways we could have done faster lap times if we wanted and more running but I think one of the best days we have managed to do with no issues.

"Quite a few laps and a race distance, though we had to stop once in the race distance, but other than that it was OK."
