Suzuki riders Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales are aiming to secure as many podium finishes as possible in the upcoming season.
Espargaro and Vinales are brimming with confidence after their strong showing during pre-season testing at Phillip Island, where Vinales set the fastest overall time.
Espargaro and Vinales failed to finish in the top three of any races last season, with the former’s best performance coming at Aragon, where he came sixth, while the latter finished sixth in Barcelona and Australia. Espargaro went on to finish the season in 11th place, while Vinales was 12th.
However, following their impressive performance during pre-season testing, Espargaro and Vinales believe that they can turn their fortunes around this season.
“I enjoyed riding the bike again, we are stronger than last year,” Espargaro told reporters. “Obviously the bike is getting better and better. This year we have to fight for the podium.
Vinales echoed Espargaro’s sentiments and believes that he and his team-mate will be a lot more competitive during the 2016 MotoGP season.
“We try to learn every day how to ride faster, day by day we have more experience,” he said. “I think this year we’re gonna be much better.”
The 2016 MotoGP season begins on March 20 in Qatar.
