Nasser Al-Attiyah is not convinced that Peugeot are legitimate contenders for the 2016 edition of the Dakar Rally.
Despite Peugeot boasting two of the most respected drivers in the Dakar Rally as part of their team, Al-Attiyah believes that they will struggle to be competitive at the race as their car is relatively untested.
"Carlos Sainz and [Stefan] Peterhansel are among the best drivers, but I don’t think their cars will hold for the whole 13 days. Because the car is new and needs development," the Qatari told Motorsport.com.
Al-Attiyah also left no-one in the dark as to his intentions for the upcoming Dakar Rally.
"The Mini is the car that has won for four years consecutively. Of course, there are many reasons for that: it is a powerful car, it has a strong team that spends money on development," said the driver who has already won the race twice.
