Buemi on Malaysia pole

Sebastien Buemi will start on pole position for the second Formula E race in succession finishing just ahead of Stephane Sarrazin in qualifying for the Putrajaya ePrix.

The Renault e.Dams driver locked up at Turn 1 on his hot lap, an area of the track where most of the field struggled with traction, but recovered sufficiently over the rest of his lap to post a time of 1m20.196, which was nearly half-a-second faster than Venturi driver Sarrazin's best.

In third place is Dragon Racing's Loic Duval, ahead of Team Aguri's Antonio Felix da Costa and Nico Prost in the sister Renault e.Dams.

ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport driver Lucas di Grassi seemed set for a spot on the front row at the very least but made a huge mistake at Turn 12, where he hit the wall, to eventually finish in sixth.

Jerome D'Ambrosio was seventh, ahead of Robin Frijns in the Andretti car and Bruno Senna in the leading Mahindra.

The top 10 is completed by Daniel Abt, while Venturi's former Formula 1 pair Nick Heidfeld and Jacques Villeneuve are in 11th and 12th, respectively.

DS Virgin's Sam Bird, last year's winner in Malaysia, is in 14th, just behind his team-mate Jean-Eric Vergne.

The grid is completed by Team Aguri's Nathanael Berthon, reigning Formula E champion Nelson Piquet in the Nextev TCR, his team-mate Oliver Turvey and Andretti's Simona de Silvestro.
