Porsche not joining F1

Earlier this week, the Volkswagen-owned sports car company's research and development chief Wolfgang Hatz stated that F1 "has never been an issue for us and won't be.

"Le Mans is a more attractive environment for us — there are more and more competitors and we learn more about the production of road cars," he told Auto Motor und Sport.

Muller explained why they chose the three-year Le Mans deal rather than join the F1 fanfare.

"We have not looked back once and we are perfectly happy," he told DPA news agency.

"We think LMP1 is the future", Muller said, adding that in contrast F1 appears to be "in more and more difficulty".
