Repsol Honda Team rider Dani Pedrosa looked good early on at the MotoGP free practice sessions at Misano before eventually finishing Friday in fourth.
Octo Pramac's Danilo Petrucci laid down a marker as he set the pace in Friday's second practice for the San Marino MotoGP followed by Maverick Vinales while championship leader Andrea Dovizioso was third.

Only a tenth back in fourth was Pedrosa, who was content with the tyre choice and the suspension, showing some great pace at times.
Things are looking good for Pedrosa, who just needs a little more pace Sector 3 as track action resumes on Saturday.
In an interview after today's FP2, Pedrosa said they would work on fine tuning the bike for Saturday's qualifying.
"This morning the track conditions were not 100% after the yesterday’s rain, and even though they improved this afternoon, the grip wasn’t as good as when we came here for the test two weeks ago.
"Anyway, we were able to do quite a lot of work, especially on the tyres, looking to understand which one adapts better to the track, and also on the suspension settings.
"Tomorrow we’ll keep working on the tyre choice and we’ll also concentrate to improve in the third sector, where we’re still missing something.
