Lewis recorded the 10th ace in tournament history at the seventh before the evergreen Jimenez followed suit with a “slam dunk” at the 15th hole.
England’s Lewis won a Cadillac Escalade for his perfect blow at the seventh, a 200-yard par-three, and he went on to birdie two of the last three holes to return a three-under 69.
“As soon as I hit it, I knew I hit it good, coming in high, and I said, that’s got a chance,” he said.
“I was just like, ‘perfect’. I was just pleased I didn’t have to putt. The green there is tricky to read and obviously I hit a great shot.”
Jimenez had slipped to three over after a double-bogey at the 10th, but he responded with three straight birdies and then celebrated a remarkable shot at the 177-yard 15th – his ball taking a big first bounce and hitting the bottom of the cup on the second.
However, the charismatic Spaniard failed to build on his excellent run as he bogeyed the next two holes and had to settle for a level-par 72.
