Rose ready for Torrey Pines

The world No 5 is the highest ranked player in a strong field at Torrey Pines that includes seven-time champion Tiger Woods, five-time major winner Phil Mickelson and last week???s Phoenix Open winner Brooks Koepka.??

Rose kicked off his season on the European Tour with top-15 finishes at the Desert Swing events in Abu Dhabi and Qatar, but now switches his focus to the PGA Tour as he begins preparing for the Masters.??

“I’m taking every event very, very seriously,??? the former US Open champion said. ???I feel my game???s in a really good spot to sort of make a good run heading into Augusta.

“There are perils to focusing too hard on one future event and Augusta can loom very large in your head for a long time.

“It’s very important to treat each event individually and to get the most out of each event you play without chalking it up to preparation.???

Rose is in a group including Dustin Johnson for the first two rounds, with the American returning after a six-month absence from the sport. ??

World No 8 Jason Day completes the trio, with the Australian confident of following on from last year???s runners-up finish.

???My preparation has been some of the best I’ve had in my career, almost like a major, and I hope to be ready to go one better than last year.

“Some players don’t like tougher courses but I love the challenge and this place tests every aspect of your game.”
